Free Sites For Music Storage
By Russell Kibbee [01-22-2001]
The drop in online storage and bandwidth costs has spawned a proliferation of free online storage services. These sites are attempting to become your destination site for storing and playing all of your music anywhere. For instance, if you put your MP3 files on a site, then you can listen to them from work, school, and home. Some of the sites are offering small amounts (20 Megs for instance) of space that would allow for about 5 songs. These tutorials will not waste your time with these sites, as they are designed for PDA users or document file sharing. Enjoy the space.
Step 1: Size matters
Myplay.com is one of the biggest online storage and playback sites online with a whopping 3 gigabytes of storage space available for your use. That would hold about 1000 songs for your enjoyment.
Step 2: How does Myplay.com work?
Go to the site www.myplay.com and check out the offerings. There is space for 3 gigs of MP3s. This is a great free service, allowing you to store and play your music anywhere, as well as discovering new music. So you will definitely want to sign up.
Step 3: Sign up for the service
The amount of information the folks at Myplay.com require is minimal. Simply enter your email address and select a password. (Donít worry, I have used the service for over 9 months and have not received unsolicited email. In fact, I have found new music from the periodic emails they send.) Click "submit" and you are ready to go.
Step 4: Create your locker
You are given some options at the beginning that will determine how you want your locker set up. If you can hear the quick test, then you are ready to fill up your "locker". The site is now yours to use to acquire and listen to your music.
