When you hear the names Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, W.A.S.P., Metallica, and AC/DC, what is the first thing that comes to mind for you? I think of the color black, power and darkness, and very heavy loud music. If this kind of music is your preferred listening experience, I have a group for you that sounds like all those groups rolled into one.
Titanium Black stings like a mad hornet that never dies, and they have an endless supply of stingers. Do they ever play, my God! Moreover, they even Bleed For You. One quick gaze at the cover of this CD and many of the thoughts I have expressed may grab you and suck you right in. It got me hook line and sinker when the opening chords of "Cracks of Light" began. Things start slow and gentle with a nice acoustic guitar then it gradually builds into a tear-your-heart-out hard rocking riff that brings you to the apex of emotion and feeling...and to make it even more appealing it is melodic. This is what all great prog-metal is capable of accomplishing. This band does it as a matter of course in a significant and poignant way on every song on this CD.
The one thing that struck me right between the eyes without fail was the range of the lead singer Terry Michael LeRoi. Can this man belt out a tune, whew! Whether he is snarling in anger on "Spit At You," (just like Blackee Lawless) or leading you gently through a slow moving ballad such as the closer "Deep," his singing remains so powerful and sweeping that you will be amazed at how brilliant and effective his voice is used in every song. John Matthews is a tremendous guitar man, he plays like a man crazed and on a mission to win you over, and he does. Robbie Spagnoletti (Drums) and Aaron Worden (Bass) are a tight rhythm section; they are the juggernauts that make this locomotive run. In short, these guys are heavy-duty rockers that will have you begging for more once the CD stops spinning. I loved this album from start to finish, absolutely. They are one of the best new acts that I have heard in quite some time; yes indeed, they are "Quite A Machine." Hey, just look at the cover; does this look like wimpy music to you?
