Don't Walk! Run! Streaming Music on Your Website is a Must
[Subtext: If your music doesn't "stream" on your web site,
most visitors will never stick around long enough to hear
it, or worse, will never discover you.]
Many musicians appear unaware to the fact that, in order
to get people to listen to their music on their web sites
who, hopefully, will then like it well enough to purchase it,
whether online or offline, and become career-long fans,
they *MUST* insure that their music is in a "streaming"
format.
This ("streaming") means that when your song title link
is clicked on, your music begins to play in a matter of
seconds, as opposed to requiring a number of minutes
to download in order to hear it. Actually, at this point of
the existence of the Internet, and how long music has
now been a part of it, this seems like a no-brainer.
However, in my experience with visiting sites of recent,
at least 30%, if not higher, of musician sites do *not*
"stream" their music. I assume that the reason is 1 of
several:
1. They do not deem it important.
2. They are unaware of how to "stream" it.
3. Both of the above.
Little is more disappointing than to visit a music site,
click on the music title link, only to discover the dreaded
MP3 file message:
"Download Time: 38 mins. 45 secs."
As much as I might wish to hear the music, I have
neither the time, nor the patience, to wait for one song
to take this much time to download, only to listen to a 3
or 4-minute cut.
And, in many instances, the complete song doesn't
even download. I venture to say that most people
probably feel the same way, especially when there are
probably 7-10 more songs they would also like to hear.
[Some of these "people" whom you are, undoubtedly,
'losing' as potential fans and buyers of your music forever,
as a result of the lack of your music "streaming," are your
career's lifeline.]
However, if an act interests me, I then pay a visit to
MP3.com and IUMA.com (as their artists' music streams)
in hopes that this particular artist who has my interest is
listed with either of these sites.
If not listed at either site, I forget about searching for the
artist elsewhere, though there are other music sales sites
that might have "streaming" clips. However, MP3.com
and IUMA.com are (currently) the most popular sites.
But, many prospective fans and music buyers likely do not
go even as far as searching the two aforementioned sites
for the artist's music.
"Streaming" your music is vitally important as it can go a
very long way in your site's visitors having an incredibly
pleasant experience, which will then translate into
increased sales of your music, whether online or offline.
After all, you've heard it over and over, and continue to
hear it...today's society is one of "instant gratification."
And, nowhere could that be more true than within the
entertainment industry and, specifically, the music
aspect.
If you are not aware of how to "stream" your music, the
below link should get you familiarized on how to do so.

You could also search www.google.com using the
following terms:
1. how to stream music files
2. streaming music files
3. streaming audio files
4. how to stream audio files
5. Any terms similar to the above 4.
After reviewing the preceding link and searching with
the above 4 terms, if you are still 'in the dark', simply
connect with an expert at askmehelpdesk.com who
can quickly get you on your way from within the
following sublink areas; "internet," "computers,"
"software," "technology," are a number of others.
But, by all means, when it comes to getting your music
heard and sold, don't let your music walk, or worse,
crawl...Make it run! "Stream" it!
