Finding online radio stations
All radio mix-Broadcast.com
Now that you have some great tools to listen to music and worldwide broadcasts, you are ready to go out and find these radio stations. Because of the relative ease and low cost associated with starting and running a station, there are many of them out there. The trickiest part is finding them, and that is where this section will help you find stations playing anything you could ever want to hear.
Step 1: What is Broadcast.com?
Broadcast.com is a station clearinghouse. It is similar to a "TV Guide" for online radio stations, telling you what is going on and allowing you to go there.
Step 2: How are stations displayed?
Yahoo bought Broadcast.com over a year ago, and it really shows. The site has a search engine feel about it rather than a station guide. You select categories resembling Yahoo (such as health or gardening), and you will likely find a show on the topic.
Step 3: Choose a topic and get a time
Because there are so many stations, it is possible to give you material on anything you want. I am interested in a radio show on nutrition. I choose the topic and am offered a couple of daily and weekly radio shows on this. I can look at a brief description of the host and the subject matter.
Step 4: Add the show to your calendar
If you like a program, you can click on "add to my calendar" which will put the program in your "My Yahoo" calendar. My Yahoo is the best starting page on the Internet and my day always begins with it. You will now have a reminder to listen to the show.
