2012 Shanghai Midi Music Festival Lineup Pools Global Music Talent The Father of Punk is coming to Shanghai again
Mark Ramone's Blitzkerieg will be performing at the "Tang" stage along with other foreign bands. The Ramones is one the most influential 70s bands that started the punk rock movement. After they disbanded, drummer Mark Ramone attended the 2007 Beijing Pop Festival. With Misfits lead singer of Michael Graves, Marky Ramone started a new band called Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg. They will be performing at 2012 Shanghai Midi Music Festival, reminding music fans of the great memories in 70s.
Great Foreign Bands Performing At Shanghai Midi
Supported by the French embassy, two French bands LSD(La Souris Déglinguée) and Nasser will be performing at Shanghai Midi on April 21st. Besides the Midi Music Festival, Nasser will be also performing at events sponsored by the Alliance Française in Chine.
Coming from Marseille, France, Nasser is an electronic rock band. Their core members Romian Chica and Nicolas Viegeolat were once film director. Considered as future rock stars, this will be Nasser's first trip to China.
LSD is one of the most talented bands in France today. On April 22nd, they will bring Chinese music fans their unique version of classic rock, raising another wave of love for French music.
Danish rock band The Kandidate is one of the most promising bands under the famous record label Napalm Records; the other Danish rock band Scarred By Beauty won the "Most Talented Artist" title in the annual Danish metal rock awards with their EP "We Swim." Both of them will be performing at Shanghai Midi on April 21st, showing music fans the spirit of northern European metal rock.
Little Fish from Oxford, U.K. will bring a White Stripes-like garage rock show on April 22nd. Lead singer Juju has an enthusiastic and mercurial personality, as well as a PJ Harvey-like live performance style. Australian punk band
Backyard Surgeons, who have performed with Bad Religion, NOFX and No Use For a Name, will have their first performance in China show on April 22nd, bringing the rock spirit of "today is my last day" from Melbourne to Shanghai.
Monstereo, an independent psychedelic band from Bergen, Norway famous for their long songs at live show, and often have exploding style performance will delight attendees on April 22nd with their first Shanghai Midi.
Famous Chinese bands On The "Tang" stage
Famous Chinese bands including Miserable Faith, Muma & Third Party, Twisted Machine, Brain Failure and Hao Yun will be performing at the "Tang" stage of Shanghai Midi. As the earlier musician who mixed traditional Chinese music, synthesizer, rock music and gospel music together, Guzheng rock musicians W.Y.C.I.S (WangYong Community of individual States) will be performing at Shanghai Midi with its new band lineup. Two active Shanghai bands, Mercy & Sorrow and Yugo, will also attend the festival. In addition, Daydreamer and Da Fresh will be representing the new rock bands to perform at Shanghai Midi.
Famous electronic music label "Yen" will sponsor for the "Yuan" stage
O2CULTURE was founded in 2004 and its members have been devising electronic dance event in Beijing since 1999. They have planned over a hundred events and started the label "Yen," which becomes the first independent label with a hundred percent local electronic dance music. For eight year, they have held on to their tradition of promoting local DJ music and become the leader of Beijing avant-garde music.
