Newton (newjon on the Net) is a professional journalist who's written for The Toronto Star, Canadian Business Magazine, The Globe and Mail, The Wall Street Journal and the Reader's Digest, among many other publications; and, has worked on a number of television productions. He's also the former managing editor of Canada's Direct Access, a national newspaper for information technology specialists, editor of Computer Graduate, a national Canadian magazine, and electronics editor of market news, a national Canadian trade publication.

These days, he runs www.p2pnet.net, which he founded, and is co-founder of IMIRA (International Music Industry Reform Association).

Born in London, England, he started out as an art student but turned to words when he discovered he wasn't likely to be a serious challenge to Picasso. In 1998, he and his wife, Liz, started selling antiques in Ontario, Canada. They wanted to be around full-time while their daughter, Emma, grows up.

As newjon, he plays blues and folk guitar. And computer ; ) He makes his computer compositions manually on a software synthesizer - no MIDI, or other, input. Output is via a Roland sound card. To newjon, this is a new genre of music - not an attempt to mimic traditional sounds electronically. His style ranges from Elizabethan-type melodies to acid jazz, with just about everything else in between.
