What is the MusicDish Genome Project?
The MusicDish Genome Project is a searchable directory of music, new media and entertainement websites. It's goal is to map the online music industry. Inspired by the biologist currently mapping the human genome, we realized that there are many strands to what we call the online music industry. To make sense of the tens of thousands of music sites on the Web, the Genome Project will be a work in progress, continuously expanding. Questions or comments? Contact us.
Who runs the MusicDish Genome Project?
The MusicDish Genome Project is a Tag It owned website associated with the Industry e-Journal, MusicDish.
Who reviews submissions?
All submissions are reviewed by the editorial staff of MusicDish.
If my site is accepted, when will it appear?
Website listings will appear in the Genome Project one week after they are submitted.
Is submitting my website free?
Yes. All we ask is that you provide a link on your site to us. For a list of our sites that you can link to, including descriptions - click here.
What will get my submission deleted?
- All non music/new media/entertainment related websites.
- HTML tags
- Excessive use of CAPS
- Invalid web address
- Websites under construction
- Sound urls that do not directly hyperlink to that sound file. (for example: urls from your MP3.com sites DO NOT directly lead to sound files and ARE NOT accepted; while urls from your IUMA sites DO directly lead to sound files and ARE accepted)
What info do I need to include on my website?
Site Title - Use the correct name for your artist/band, company or website. Do not include in your title phrases such as "The Official Website..." or "Music of..." or "Bandname - the best music in the world."
Site Url - Must begin with "http://"
Sound File - Must be DIRECT links to actual digital files with endings such as ".rm", ".ram", and ".mp3"; submissions with links to actual webpages for the sound file link will be deleted.
Description - Maximum 250 characters. Descriptions that are longer than 250 characters will be cut off at the 251st text character.
How do I make changes to my submission?
Contact us with any changes that you would like to make to your submission. Include the exact title as show online of your website submission.
